Class: Vehicle Recovery
Location: Ellenville, NY
Length: 10am-3pm
Methods: Classroom, workshops, field demonstrations with staged recovery scenarios. Some driving on beginner & intermediate level trails.
Who: This class is highly recommended for anyone who operates a vehicle mounted winch, Hi-Lift Jack and anyone who recovers a vehicle using a tow-strap or kinetic energy rope. These devices demand respect and proper training will help mitigate the risk of personal injury.
What’s Covered: Our ‘Vehicle Recovery’ class focuses on safe recovery techniques using winches, Hi-Lift jacks, tow straps, kinetic energy ropes and traction aid devices. Class covers techniques for vehicle to vehicle and self-recovery using NORA recovery gear and NORA vehicles. Class also reviews safe vs. non-safe gear and while not necessary, students are welcome to bring their own equipment.
Vehicle Requirements: Students do not need to bring a 4WD vehicle for this class, they can ride along with instructors & guides to workshop locations throughout the trail network. Students with experience driving in 4-low may drive their own vehicle. Student vehicles can be stock (unmodified) or modified, must have 4 wheel drive with 4-low and rear vehicle recovery points (i.e. frame mounted hook or tow hitch). Vehicle must be street legal, registered, insured and drivers must have a valid license/permit.

Our instructors and guides are by your side the entire day and lunch is included.
