2024 SOAR Experiences Open House – May 15 & 16 in Ellenville, NY

After 5 years of providing amazing adaptive recreation programs, NORA’s SOAR Program has become SOAR Experiences Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to adaptive adventure experiences and education.

4 available sessions:
Wed May 15  AM (10am – 12pm) or PM (1:30pm – 3:30pm)
Thu May 16 AM (10am – 12pm) or PM (1:30pm – 3:30pm)

We welcome Rehabilitation Centers, Recreation Therapists, Parks Professionals, Veteran Event Organizers and individuals to come to Ellenville for a two-hour info session. Learn about our programs for guests with mobility impairments and try out some of our equipment including all terrain wheelchairs like the Action Trackchair and GRIT Freedom Chair.

STARR Adventures is a factory authorized Action Trackchair dealership and service company based at NORA’s Ellenville training center. Visitors are welcome to try out different Action Trackchair equipment including the all-new AXIS model. Visitors are also welcome to try out the GRIT Freedom Chair, and see our latest addition, The Swincar. Please note all equipment demonstrations at STARR Adventures are free, however they do require appointments. Please contact us for more information.

“I attended NORA for a day event for people with disabilities to try out the GRIT Freedom all-terrain wheelchair. I had the most amazing experience! Scott, the owner, is an absolute pleasure and I was delighted to hear him talk about his past experiences helping people with disabilities get out in nature! I was able to get in an all-terrain wheelchair and get out in the woods in a way that isn’t possible for me without expensive adaptive equipment. On top of that, some big, lifted vehicles were brought out and we were all welcome to come along for an off-road trek through the woods! Thanks to a special platform that NORA has for people who use wheelchairs to get them up and into these vehicles, I was able to get out even further into the woods! I was with Alex, Scott’s son, and he was an amazing driver! The whole experience brought tears to my eyes because I love nature so much, and getting out is hard for someone with a spinal cord injury.
