Take it up a notch – this class incorporates our advanced terrain with staged areas for mountain-based recovery, including multiple ways to recover incapacitated vehicles and ‘Thinking Outside The Box’. Includes workshops and advanced trail driving, safe use of common recovery equipment, trail modifications and having an ‘outside of the box’ mindset. Training is safety focused on people, vehicle and environmental preservation. Students may bring their own vehicles with 4-Low and front/rear recovery points or rent a NORA vehicle for use on the trails.
Length: 5 hrs on-site (9am – 2pm)
Location: Ellenville Training Center, NY
Who: This class is highly recommended for anyone who operates a vehicle off-road or in low traction terrain.
Off Road Driving Experience Level: Off road driving and vehicle recovery experience is strongly suggested. Trail ride includes mountainous trails with steep terrain. Our REC-101 or REC-102 or equivalent are recommended prerequisites but are not mandatory.
Optional Pre-Class Workshop: If you have little or no off road driving experience you should sign up for pre-class workshop on spotting & throttle control basics.
What’s Covered: Workshops for vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle self-recovery on advanced terrain including rock, ledge, off camber, steep hills and mud (weather permitting). Includes lessons on retrieving incapacitated vehicles. NORA provides all recovery gear (winch, pulleys, traction boards, KE ropes, recovery straps, Hi-Lift Jacks), however students are welcome to bring and use their own equipment. Class includes a 30 minute break for lunch (meal not included), students are encouraged to bring their own snacks, meals and non-alcoholic beverages.
Requirements: Bring your stock (unmodified) or modified 4 wheel drive vehicle with 4-low and front/rear recovery points. Vehicle must be street legal, registered & insured. Drivers must have a valid domestic or international license.
