NORA offers structured classes (public & private) and programs for low-speed driving technique, vehicle recovery skills, 4WD driving tours, Overland trips, business team outings, OEM events, passenger ride-along and more. All offerings are safety focused on people, vehicle and environmental preservation and are education based. Browse the NORA Course Catalog at this link. NORA’s subscription Trail Pass Program allows members to enjoy year-round organized activities with NORA staff.

For 2025, NORA is hosting two Open House dates at their off-road training center in Ellenville, NY. Attendees can learn about NORA’s offerings, see demonstrations of spotting a vehicle through a rock obstacle course, vehicle recovery techniques, discussions with NORA staff and more. Guests may experience a short passenger ride-along in a NORA vehicle with a NORA driver. Please note driving is limited to NORA staff only at this event.

Space is limited and registration is required. The $10 registration fee will be donated to our Not-For-Profit organization SOAR Experiences which helps guests with mobility impairments experience and enjoy outdoor recreation. Each registration will receive a $25 credit toward any NORA activity, redeemable through Dec 2025.

Review: Exciting Off Road Private Training
“I have done a lot of off-road driving as a passenger in UT. However, this time I took a course with NORA as a driver. This was a revelation for me and much more than I had expected. The course was a private instruction of 6-hr length. I brought my own car (4Runner TRD Off Road). The instructor was Alex, and he was very patient as well as a great spotter. I was able to test in practice all of the sophisticated features of 4Runner on an obstacle course. At one point I was stuck for real, and rear differential lock got me moving again (a nice way to learn what it is for). I was also allowed to bring my own kinetic recovery rope and we tested in detail my front custom recovery points as well as the one using hitch, which I wanted to do before our upcoming trip to CO and UT. I selected an easy course for the trail loop, but it could be harder if desired. I have learned a lot.
