FAQ’s
FAQ: I don’t have a 4×4 vehicle with dual range transfer case (4Low), can I still take a class? Yes, we have rental vehicles available for classes in Ellenville.
FAQ: Can I just show up and drive? No. Access to our private Ellenville venue is limited to registered students and event guests. Our Hunter Mountain & other tours are on a private ski mountain and private properties, access is only permitted by registered participants when accompanied with NORA instructors.
FAQ: When are you open? We are open for private instruction in Ellenville all year round. Our public group training classes run April through December, see the schedule and register online.
FAQ: Where can I drive off road after taking a class? Complete a full day NORA class (with trail driving) and you qualify to join the NORA Adventure Club with organized, legal, year-round off road trips, campouts and more. In 2022 the club offered over 40 activities to 125+ members with more scheduled for 2023!
FAQ: What do you offer at Ellenville? Our Ellenville training center & trail network offers off road driving training from beginner to experienced, vehicle recovery training, night trail rides, group activities, team outings and more. We also have specialty programs i.e. #VANLIFE Adventure Vans.
FAQ: I have a stock (unmodified) Toyota, can I take a class? Yes, we are ‘Vehicle Agnostic’ and work with almost any 4×4 vehicle with 4Low and recovery points. Jeep Wranglers, Toyota 4Runners, etc. from stock to heavily modified. Public classes are for SUV’s and up to mid-sized trucks (i.e. Tacoma, Ranger), full size trucks (i.e. F150, Dodge Ram) require private training.
FAQ: What do you offer at Hunter Mountain? Our Hunter Mountain public group tours and events run May – October. Our 4×4 Driving Tours include logging roads, ski trails and a drive up to the summit with beautiful views. Please note Hunter Mtn is private property, you can only access 4×4 trails accompanied with NORA instructors.
FAQ: What vehicles can attend the Hunter Tours? SUV’s and trucks can attend our Hunter tours. Note full-sized trucks will not be able to navigate the tight summit trails and will wait at a designated area during the 20 minute trail ride before rejoining the group.
FAQ: What is your adaptive SOAR program for people with mobility impairments? Our amazing SOAR Program offers adaptive hiking with our fleet of all terrain wheelchairs including Action Trackchair & GRIT Freedom Chair, as well as Air Gun Marksmanship, Passenger Jeep Ride-Along and fun competitions. We work with Rec Therapists, Rehabilitation hospitals, veterans groups and individuals to provide fun outdoor recreation. Our partner STARR Adventures is an Action Trackchair factory authorized dealership offering trail demo’s at out Ellenville location.

Our SOAR program offers amazing experiences for guests with mobility impairment (i.e. spinal cord injuries, stroke, disease, amputees). We offer outings with rehabilitation hospitals, individuals and groups using our off-road wheelchairs & equipment.
